Arcade Fire x Spike Jonze

Clearly this week is out of the ordinary for Canadian indie rock outfit Arcade Fire. First, their excellent album The Suburbs was released plus two shows at the Madison Square Garden are scheduled – one of them (August 5th) will be offered as a Terry Gilliam-directed webcast that will be aired on YouTube/Vevo at 10pm EDT. In addition, AF’s frontman Win Butler revealed that they are working together with Spike Jonze for a short movie. The famed video music director was hit by the muse after hearing the group’s album and immediately found a common vision with Butler. Hence, the project with a working title Scene from the Suburb will a science fiction B-movie highlighting accompanying the album. Scenes for this piece have already been shot in Austin, Texas back in April. We will keep you posted on the further development of this interesting project.

This is a new video by Tilles Singer featuring stop motion animation, reminiscent of some of my favorite directors i.e. Gondry and Wes Anderson. Enjoy.

Planet of the Apes Mixtape

My boy Anthony aka IL Twice just released a new mixtape entitled Planet of the Apes Vol 2 with a few tracks produced by another friend of mine Spencer from Jupiter Rising fame. You can download it free HERE. IL Twice is one of the best freestyle rappers I've ever heard and he has a cool mix of smart, gritty hip hop. Follow him on Facebook and stay up on the beginnings of someone who will be around the hip hop game for some time to come.

MGMT leak

MGMT have posted a new song entitled “Flash Delirium” for free download via their website after some recent leaks off their new album. This particular track features a subtle intro that eventually builds up into nice little groove, with the trademark MGMT vibe. It’s definitely something out of the box for the fellas, but they still managed to maintain the integrity of their style Congratulations will be the 4th studio album from MGMT, with a tentative release date of April 13, 2010.
